My son Michael befriended the gardener who tends the koi ponds at Kiahuna Plantation where we stayed near Poipu Beach on Kaua’i during our holiday visit to the Hawaiian island. The gardener lopped off the top of a water jug and fashioned an aquarium stocked with guppies and aquatic plants.
Unfortunately, TSA rules won’t let you fly commercial with a fish tank sloshing in your lap. But Adam and Olivia, a couple of kids visiting from Vancouver, B.C., were happy to take over the Poipu aquarium and promised to pass it on to new vacationers when they left the island.
